Medal of Valor
Image
To receive the Medal of Valor, the firefighter or EMT must be a member of the department who, in the performance of duty while on a call, under hazardous conditions, in which the member is confronted with imminent personal risk, but had no prior knowledge of that risk, performs an act of conspicuous heroism which furthers the highest traditions of the fire and emergency medical services.

Medal of Merit
Image
To receive the Medal of Merit, the firefighter or EMT must have displayed outstanding service or accomplishment under hazardous conditions. This medal is awarded for actions that, while not necessarily involving imminent personal risk, demonstrate exceptional dedication, skill, or bravery in the face of adversity, whether in firefighting, rescue, or medical care.

Medal of Honor

The Medal of Honor is awarded to a firefighter or EMT who exhibits exceptional courage and professionalism during firefighting, rescue operations, or emergency medical services. This award is given for actions that go above and beyond the call of duty, contributing to the safety, health, and well-being of others.

Distinguished Service

The Distinguished Service Medal is awarded to a firefighter or EMT with a long and distinguished career marked by significant contributions to the department. This medal recognizes consistent excellence in duty, leadership, and dedication to the fire and emergency medical services.

Lifesaving Medal
Image
The Lifesaving Medal is awarded to a firefighter or EMT whose actions directly result in the saving of a human life. This medal honors those who perform life-saving measures with skill and determination during an emergency, whether through firefighting, rescue, or medical intervention.

Firefighter's Cross
Image
The Firefighter’s Cross is awarded posthumously to firefighters or EMTs who lose their lives in the line of duty. This medal is a symbol of ultimate sacrifice and dedication to the protection and care of others.

Chief's Commendation Medal
Image
The Chief’s Commendation Medal is presented by the Fire Chief to firefighters or EMTs who demonstrate notable service or achievement. This medal is awarded for actions that bring honor to the department and exemplify the highest standards of the fire and emergency medical services.

Firefighter of the Year
Image
The Firefighter of the Year Medal/Commendation Bar is presented to the individual as chosen by his fellow members or the chief of the department who characterizes the best attributes of being a firefighter.

EMT of the Year
Image
The EMT of the Year Medal/Commendation is awarded to the individual as chosen by his fellow members or the chief of the department who characterizes the best attributes of an emergency medical technician or paramedic.

Unit Citation Ribbon
Image
The Unit Citation Ribbon is awarded to a group of firefighters and/or EMTs who, through exceptional teamwork and performance, successfully handle a significant incident. This ribbon recognizes the collective efforts and professionalism of the team during a challenging operation, whether in firefighting, rescue, or medical care.

Service Ribbon

The Service Ribbon is awarded in recognition of a firefighter or EMT’s years of service within the department. This ribbon is typically awarded in increments of 5, 10, and 20 years, honoring long-term commitment and dedication to the fire and emergency medical services.

Community Service Ribbon

The Community Service Ribbon is awarded to firefighters or EMTs who make outstanding contributions to the community, including public education, charity work, and other services that benefit the public. This ribbon highlights the importance of community involvement in both fire and medical services.

The Training Excellence Ribbon is awarded to firefighters or EMTs who demonstrate exceptional performance during training exercises or education programs. The Incident Response Ribbon is awarded to firefighters or EMTs who respond to significant incidents, such as major fires, disasters, or medical emergencies. Special Operations Ribbon

The Special Operations Ribbon is awarded to firefighters or EMTs who participate in specialized operations, such as hazardous materials incidents, technical rescues, or complex medical missions. This ribbon honors the specialized skills and training required to safely and effectively manage these operations.

Good Conduct Ribbon

The Good Conduct Ribbon is awarded to firefighters or EMTs who maintain a record of good behavior and professionalism over a specified period. This ribbon recognizes consistent adherence to the department’s standards and values, contributing to a positive and effective work environment.

Awards can be only issued by Command staff of the department.
